Early Detection: Rapid HIV Testing

Early Detection: Rapid HIV Testing

Caring Communities offers FREE and CONFIDENTIAL rapid HIV testing! In just 20 minutes, you can know your HIV status. The tests we use have “a proven clinical accuracy of 99.9%.” The test can be conducted with a simple finger prick. It is a 4th generation test, so it “can detect HIV earlier than 2nd and 3rd generation antibody-only tests.”

According to Aidsvu.org, “the number of Pennsylvania residents living with HIV was 33,593 in 2014. In the following year, 2015, there was a total of 1,170 new HIV diagnoses.”

HIV can be transmitted through four main bodily fluids: blood, semen (including pre-cum), vaginal fluids, and breast milk. It can be passed from one person to another through these infected fluids. People can have HIV for many years without feeling or looking sick. They may not even know they have HIV, but they can still pass the virus on to others.

HIV testing can be accessed in any of our four office locations. We are located in Wilkes-Barre (67-69 Public Square, Suite 508, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701), Hazleton (20 N.
